Removing the user account password is also useful for media PCs which are generally connected to TVs and accessed by all the members in the household. That being said, if you are the only user of the system and confident that no one can access it, having a password-protected user account is nothing but an additional unnecessary step to log into Windows. This is especially true for on-the-go laptop users or users who share the computer with others. Generally, password protection is a really good thing.
